PaaS Cloud Engineer needed (OpenShift SME) ID-5844

Our client is seeking an experienced PaaS Engineer - OpenShift & Cloud to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering, supporting, and automating Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings with a strong focus on OpenShift and cloud technologies. This role will involve assisting with application migrations to PaaS environments, driving cloud-native application deployment, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to modernize their infrastructure.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Red Hat OpenShift: 5+ years of experience administering OpenShift environments (VMs, Bare Metal, and ROSA), including OpenShift Container Platform (v4.15 and above), OpenShift Data Foundation, and OpenShift Platform Plus
  • Cloud Platforms: Expertise in cloud administration, including AWS, Azure, and/or IBM Cloud
  • Containers & Orchestration: Extensive knowledge of Linux Containers (Docker), Kubernetes, and the deployment of containerized applications/microservices architectures
  • Application Migration & Refactoring: Proven experience migrating and refactoring enterprise applications to containerized workloads
  • Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in configuration management and scripting technologies (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Shell, Python)
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, and similar tools, along with a deep understanding of DevOps practices and tools
  • Networking & Infrastructure: Working knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, load balancing, and related infrastructure components
  • Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of Java, JBoss, nginx, Node.js, and enterprise application architectures
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting and optimizing cloud and containerized environments
  • SSL Certificate Management: Knowledge of SSL certificate management and related security best practices
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile methodologies, tools, and practices (kanban, stand-ups, sprints, etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage Red Hat OpenShift environments (VMs, Bare Metal, and ROSA)
  • Lead application migrations and assist with refactoring enterprise applications to containerized workloads in PaaS environments
  • Automate deployment processes and contribute to DevOps initiatives using CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins)
  • Support and enhance OpenShift Container Platform (v4.15 and above), OpenShift Data Foundation, and OpenShift Platform Plus
  • Ensure optimal performance and scalability of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud)
  • Provide technical expertise on Ceph, Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized microservices architectures
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to implement cloud-native solutions
  • Assist in troubleshooting, optimizing, and scaling applications within cloud and containerized environments
  • Document processes, solutions, and troubleshooting steps while sharing knowledge across teams
