In addition to leading the design of the Sixth Street Viaduct, the K-Line Light Rail corridor, and the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Widening, we are the program and construction manager for the LACMTA I-105 ExpressLanes, the SBCTA I-10 Express Lanes, the OCTA I-405 Express Lanes, and the CHSRA Construction Package 4.
This opportunity entails being responsible for providing senior proficiency level inspection or construction field work to monitor compliance with engineering/architectural plans and specifications at night. The Construction Field Specialist supervises the work of project staff to determine that contractor's construction activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements. May serve as interface on-site between Client, Company Personnel and Contractor in resolution of project issues. May be responsible for project tasks under a Resident Engineer or serving as the assistant to the Resident Engineer on a large and/or complex Project.
What You'll Do:
- Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents, and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
- Advises Contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract.
- Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor.
- Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date.
- Assists with reviews and checks calculations for Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
- Performs on-site material testing and assists with equipment maintenance.
- Assists with as-built record drawings.
- Assists with contract close-out documentation.
- Assists in construction schedule reviews, contractor pay estimate reviews, and change order management.
- Attends and participates in, as needed, project progress meetings.
- Serves as field technical subject matter expert.
- May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
- Associates degree in Engineering, Construction Services, or related field and 10 years relevant experience, or
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Construction Services, or related field and 8 years of relevant experience, or
- In lieu of degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
What You'll Bring:
- Reads and understands contract plans and specifications.
- Experience with Caltrans traffic charts, standard plans for lane closures, full highway closures, and detours.
- Experience with COZEEP.
- Performs advanced calculations.
- Understands and interprets contractor's schedule.
- Understands testing requirements and procedures; uses testing equipment for materials testing.
- Serves as field technical subject matter expert by recognizing discrepancies or errors and resolves issues.
- Coordinates the project within the discipline.
What We Prefer:
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- In lieu of degree, 14 years of relevant experience

The approximate pay range for Los Angeles Metro Area and Orange County, CA is $123,846.45 - $193,708.53. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
